The world is getting smaller

International links are growing even outside Europe. Many people today spend their careers working in more than one country or wish to live abroad when they retire. It has thus become necessary to ensure that the protection of the social security system is extended across borders to reduce to a minimum any disadvantages arising from the acquirement of entitlements through work in countries with different social security systems.
