The start and end of the family hospice leave or care leave as well as all changes in this context must be reported to the relevant health insurance institution without prompting. This relates to both companies with self-billing procedures and companies with advance contribution procedures.
Trigger/purpose of the notification
A person subject to full insurance is taking family hospice leave or care leave.
Due to the family hospice leave or care leave, the person who was previously fully insured is now only entitled to a small wage or no wage at all.
The registration, deregistration or change notification for family hospice or care leave must be submitted within seven days of the event subject to notification.
The registration, deregistration or change notification must be sent to the relevant health insurance institution.
Process and procedure
The notification shall only be deemed submitted if it is transmitted via ELDA (electronic data exchange with the Austrian social insurance institutions).
Registrations submitted by other means, in particular in paper form, by email or by telephone, are not deemed submitted.
For those employees already on reduced employment contracts who take family hospice or care leave, no family hospice or care leave notifications have to be submitted. These persons are not included in the health and pension insurance.A copy of the notification shall be immediately provided to the policyholder.In case of administrative offences, the district administrative authority may impose administrative fines.
Modifying/correcting the notification
Corrections are possible by means of corresponding cancellation, change or correction notifications.
