Purpose and aims
In contrast with restorative rehabilitation measures, preventive health care aims at preserving the earning capacity of the insured person.
In the case of pension recipients, the main purpose of preventive health care is to maintain their quality of life and to prevent them becoming care-dependent.
The following measures are employed to this end:
- Referral to cure and rehabilitation centres (facilities maintained by the social security organisations or institutions with which they have agreements)
- The provision of allowances for visits to cure centres
- Out-patient (follow-up) treatments and physiotherapy
- Under certain circumstances, the costs of travel or transport between the residence and the treatment centre will also be assumed.
